About me

Welcome to my site.

My name is Steve, and I am a private pilot living in Tasmania, Australia.

I first got my pilot’s licence in 1987, at Parafield in South Australia, flying Piper PA-28 Warrior’s. After obtaining a Constant Speed endorsement on a PA-32 (Cherokee Six), I flew my wife and another friend from Adelaide to Launceston (her home town) over the 1987 Easter long weekend. It was a great trip to make, including the VFR Bass Strait crossing (via King Island), with a refuelling stop at Warrnambool (Victoria) on the way there and back. A great experience, but unfortunately circumstances prevented me from doing much more flying after that - until now. So, after a 20 year hiatus, I am now in a position to start flying again; my wife and I have recently moved back down to Tasmania, I’ve joined the Tasmanan Aero Club, and have been back up for my first (short) ‘re-training’ flights.

The blog within this website is my way of keeping track of my renewed flying experiences, and I aim to make the rest of the website a useful resource for ALL pilots (primarily in Australia), with links to as many useful aviation resources as I can - sort of a ‘One Stop Shop’ for anyone interested in aviation and flying.

Now… all I need to do is make sure I keep it up to date - If you find anything that isn’t accurate or up to date - let me know through the blog comments.

Enjoy!
